Kenna Elementary PTO Kenna PTO would like to welcome you to our school. If your child is a student of Kenna Elementary, we invite you to come to the first meeting on Tuesday, September 12, at 6:00 p.m. in the school library. We are always looking for new volunteers! Good afternoon, Jackson County Schools will be dismissing two and one-half hours early due to severe weather entering our region beginning at 3:00 p.m. According to the National Weather briefing at 10:00 a.m. this morning - tornado warnings, large-size hail, and heavy winds have been predicted. All buses will arrive at their stops two and 1/2 hours early. I apologize for this inconvenience and your understanding of this matter. Please stay safe.

Good evening. On April 8, 2024, Jackson County will experience a Solar Eclipse with a magnitude of 94.7%. The height of the eclipse will be around 3:13 p.m., coinciding with dismissal times for many of our schools. Jackson County Schools has taken a proactive approach to this occurrence by purchasing special glasses for our students so they can experience this spectacular event, which will not occur again until 2044. Last week, guardians should have received a letter from our school system explaining the procedures we have in place for the eclipse as safety is always our top concern. Good evening - Our annual Jackson County Schools STEM night event will be held on Tuesday, March 26, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Ripley Elementary School. STEM night is open to all Jackson County elementary-age students. We are asking parents to accompany their children during the event. Many of our "exhibitors" will be local companies and community members who will share their knowledge and passion for science, technology, engineering, and math - including representatives from Dow Chemical, Roane Jackson Technical Center, High School Robotics teams, Constellium, STAR Plastics, WVU Extension Agents, Project Lead the Way, and many others. Good evening parents and guardians. This is a friendly reminder that Monday, February 19, 2024, is a Professional Learning Day for school employees. This means that students will not have classes. As with our last PL day in October, we encourage guardians to schedule conferences with teachers. If you would like to schedule a conference with a teacher, please contact them as soon as possible. Good Morning, We were just notified by AEP that power restoration would take around 3 hours to complete. Therefore, we will begin our dismissal procedure for students. We will dismiss students from Kenna Elementary at 9:10 a.m. to allow parents and guardians time to make arrangements for their children. Good morning Around 7:15 a.m. this morning, we lost one phase of Power at Kenna Elementary School. We are waiting for AEP to give us a restoration time on the power. Parents and guardians will be immediately notified once we hear a restoration time from AEP. We will begin dismissal procedures if electricity cannot be restored in a reasonable amount of time.
