    1. Sign-In and Introductions

      1. Mrs. Goff had everyone sign in and share who they were, what grade they taught, or what grade their child was. (Andrea Goff, Nemo Bogges, Julia Boggess, Klaire Garnes, Erica Melvin, Christy Scholl, Nancy Anderson, Julie Banton, and Amanda Godwin)

    2. Meeting made public though newsletters, DOJO, and school website

      1. Mrs. Goff went over how she communicated the meeting for this evening. She shared on classroom and school newsletter, posted on DOJO, as well as sent home with every student.

  2. Policy/WV State Code

    1. Mrs. Goff went over the codes (listed below) and made everyone aware of the expectations and deadlines of the LSIC.

    3. Title 126, Series 11A-LSICs: Engaging Parents, Families, Students, Business and Community in Education (2200)

3.     Nomination of Officers

  1. Chair- Christy Scholl was nominated by Nancy Anderson

Agenda:

 

  1. Introductions

Everyone went around the room and introduced themselves (Andrea Goff, Nemo Boggess, Julia Boggess, Klaire Garnes, Erica Melvin, Christy Scholl, Nancy Anderson, Julie Banton, and Amanda Godwin)

  1. LSIC Training Video

Mrs. Goff shared the required LSIC training video on the tv for everyone to watch. The date and attendance were inputted and submitted on WVEIS.

3.     Update on HVAC

Mrs. Goff gave an update on the HVAC. The air has been working, with some days/different rooms being hot or too cold. When a problem occurs, Mrs. Goff or Janie Scarberry notifies the maintenance department. The HVAC is doing good.

4.     Update on Designated Project Needs List (24-25)

Last year the BOE granted Kenna Elementary with five promethean boards and a storage shed. Mrs. Goff reminded everyone to be thinking of some new things to put on this year’s Project Needs List. Mrs. Goff brought up the discussion of possibly getting the library windows completed with a Kenna Cubs design for this years designated project needs list and one promethean board.

  1. Safety

    1. Shield Program

      1. Mrs. Goff shared that the Shield Program with Jackson County Schools is continuing. We have officers in the building very often. They are required to sign in and out. With this program they are required to have two hours of work in the schools. The kids love seeing the cops and they do a wonderful job with talking to them and being mentors.

    2. Monthly Safety Checklist

      1. Mrs. Goff made everyone aware that her and the custodian walk through the building each month and complete a safety checklist. Mrs. Goff turns this into the Assistant Superintendent, Tim Brown.

    3. Code Red Drills

      1. Mrs. Goff made everyone aware that they complete four code red drills a year, one for each nine weeks. One of the code red drills she tries to have a law enforcement officer here to check the building as well with her to ensure everything is being done correctly or what could be changed to ensure the safety of the students and staff. One code red has been completed this year and Kevin Sears was here to ensure technology and the code red button was working correctly. There was one issue discovered during the code red, you could not hear the sirens very well in the gym/cafeteria.

  2. Beginning of the Year Counseling Plan (Susan Curry)

    1. Ms. Curry submit a counseling plan every year. Once this is completed, Mrs. Goff will share with LSIC and have them approve it.

  3. School Topics

    1. Parent/Student Handbook

      1. Mrs. Goff reminded everyone that the parent/student handbook is online and if they needed a copy, to notify the office and they will print and send home a copy.

    2. Title 1 Compact

      1. Mrs. Goff made everyone aware that we are Title 1 school, and a compact is to be sent home every year. A compact was sent home at the beginning of the school year and if they have any questions to feel free to ask. She reminded everyone that Title 1 is federally funded and there are requirements, such as family engagement nights that will be occurring throughout the school year. Christy Scholl went over the parent compact brochure that went home and the parents stated they liked being communicated through DOJO and papers sent home.

c.     Family Engagement Activities This Year

                                           i.         Christy Scholl went over our first planned engagement day this year that has the students designing ugly Christmas shirts and having a Christmas lunch. She plans on having an outside physical movement evening for the second family engagement event for the year in the Spring.

  1. Classroom Behavior and Discipline

    1. PBIS/Schoolwide Calendar

      1. This year we are continuing with the schoolwide behavior calendar. Students are responding well to it. At the end of the month, students who earn enough “green days” get an activity.

    2. Academic Progress (24-25 GSA Data Results)

      1. Mrs. Goff went over the 24-25 GSA data results with everyone in attendance.

        1. Math- 47% in 3rd grade, 50% in 4th grade, and 42% in 5th grade

        2. Reading- 50% in 3rd grade, 53% in 4th grade, and 65% in 5th grade

    3. Parental Expectations for Student Academic Progress

      1. Mrs. Goff went over that parents should be reading with their child every night and going over any academic skills to help them succeed.

  2. Strategic/FOCUS Plan

    1. Goals

      1. Mrs.  Goff shared the 25-26 Strategic/FOCUS plan with everyone. Her goals are to increase reading and math iready scores, maintain communication and hold staff to high expectations and standards, improve attendance, and cultivate professional growth. Mrs. Goff and Ms. Curry have been working and brainstorming on how they want to increase attendance and accountability for the students and parents.

 

  1. Meeting Dates for the Year

    1. Meeting dates for this year are November 12th, February 11th, and April 8th. All meetings will begin at 5:00pm in the library.
